Serving our local communities
Community councils are the grassroots level of local government, and since 1974, Llanasa Community Council has been serving our three wards and thirteen villages. Our fourteen councillors represent the interests of our community residents, and they’re accountable to them. You elect new community councillors every five years.
Community councils are regularly consulted by the Welsh Government, the local authority, and other statutory bodies on matters which impact people who live in our wards. We are consulted on all planning applications in the ward, and you are welcome to attend any meetings where planning applications are discussed. However, Flintshire County Council is the final decision maker on applications. We operate over 300 street lights, maintain bus shelters, benches, and notice boards, and administer Picton Cemetery. We occasionally make donations to other organisations, and applications for assistance are considered throughout the year.
